Alone
Important: Brightness is critical to the game; if it feels like it's too easy or too hard, restart and adjust. Brightness settings for each person's setup will differ
Summary
Alone is a 2D survival game where you play as a lost explorer that must make their way back out of a deep, dark dungeon you seem to have fallen into. Worse yet, you’ve injured yourself and have only one arm to carry your light. You must maintain your ever-wavering resolve in the dark. Step lightly, or risk setting off traps that can cut your journey short.
Gameplay
You will be immediately thrust into the pitch black dungeon environment. The dark is a key feature that forces the player to find light sources to be able to explore. Navigate the maze of rooms presented to you using whatever lighting and implements you can find to climb to the highest level possible.
Balance speed and care. Go too carefully, the darkness will drain your resolve meter, go too fast and you may fall prey to traps. Once the resolve meter is drained, your character passes out and the game is over. Make it to the stairs found in each level however and you get to continue to the next level. You will be rewarded for exploring for better lights or helpful consumable items. And mind the rats, they seem hungry...
Controls
All actions other than movement have UI context hints:
W/A/S/D - Movement
E - Pickup object, interact with object
Q - Ignite object on ground
F - toggle light on/off, ignite object in hand, misc. actions
Known Bugs
(unfixable until after the jam is over)- Levers have the wrong action context ("Pickup Match")
- Fuel is still used when reading a note instead of being locked
- Pressing 'Q' sometimes triggers the "ignite" sound even though an object is already lit or spent
